Halls Rep Job Role

Halls Rep

Representing students staying both in Strathclyde University halls, and private halls, the Halls Rep is a spokesperson for students living in student accomodation, and sits on Strathclyde Students’ Union Welfare Committee. The Rep directly reports to the Vice President Welfare and works closely together with the Student Exec on campaigns concerning halls students.

The Rep must self-define as staying in halls, and must be enrolled at Strathclyde University.

Term: November to October
Honorarium: £600 (paid in instalments at end of Semester 1 and Semester 2)
Time Commitment: approx. 3 hours per week during semester


This role will:

  1. Represent the voice of students staying in halls within the Union and to Residence Services.
  2. Identify issues relevant to students in living in student accomodation.
  3. Canvass opinions of students in halls and be aware of common problems and concerns ensuring that Union Executive Committee/ Student Parliament are made aware of these.
  4. Run campaigns concerning halls issues.
  5. Ensure that the needs of all halls students are reflected in the Union activities.
  6. Attend relevant training, conferences and conventions that are relevant to the remit of this position.

 
An honorarium will be awarded when:

  1. The rep led a campaign/project that champions issues regarding students in halls.
  2. Reports are submitted to every Welfare Committee in the semester.
  3. The rep has attended Student Parliament or provided an appropriate reason for non-attendance.
