International Student's Rep Job Role

International Students’ Rep

Representing international students from both EU and overseas, the International Students’ Rep promotes inclusivity, is a spokesperson for international students, sits on Strath Union's Welfare Committee and the Inclusion Committee. The Rep directly reports to the Vice President Welfare and works closely together with the Student Exec on campaigns concerning international students.

The Rep must self-define as an international student enrolled at Strathclyde University.

Term: March to March (exact dates TBC)
Honorarium: £600 (paid in installments at end of semesters 1 and 2)
Time Commitment: approx. 3 hours per week during semester


This role will:

  1. Represent the voice of international students within the Union.
  2. To identify issues relevant to international students.
  3. To canvass international student opinion and be aware of common problems and concerns ensuring that Union Executive Committee/ Student Parliament are made aware of these.
  4. To run campaigns concerning international student issues.
  5. To ensure that the needs of international students are reflected in the Union activities.
  6. To be lead officer in all matters related to NUS Scotland International Students Campaign.
  7. To attend relevant training, conferences and conventions that are relevant to the remit of this position.

 
An honorarium will be awarded when:

  1. The rep led a campaign/project that champions international students’ issues on campus
  2. The rep attends the Inclusion Committee and Welfare Committee meetings in the semester or has provided an appropriate reason for non-attendance. 
  3. The rep has attended Student Parliament or provided an appropriate reason for non-attendance
