A Society for Creators and Lovers of great comedy and writing, Where people can come together, relax discuss their favorites comics and writers or share their own work in a safe environment.

WHO ARE WE?

We are a society based in Strathclyde University but we are open for anyone and everyone to join, we are looking to bring together fans and producers of great comedy and terrific writing from all across Scotland and the world. It doesn't matter if you've written and published 8 of your own novels or if you've only ever read a single book if you are a touring Stand Up Comic or you just like watching Live at the Apollo. If you feel at all passionate about these topics or interested in this society please feel free to come along and join in!!!

As a society, we have 3 MAIN OBJECTIVES

OBJECTIVE 1: WEEKLY- BRINGING FANS AND CREATORS TOGETHER

To host weekly meetings which allow people with an interest in writing and/or comedy, to meet up and discuss topics relevant to these, such as their favorite comedians, plays, sketches, books, poems, improv routines, sitcoms, etc. Also to discuss and show they’re own work in a safe environment and look for feedback and suggestions on how to improve or to get advice on how to progress.

OBJECTIVE 2: MONTHLY- ALLOWING EVERYONE TO LEARN TOGETHER

To host monthly workshops, at some of which we bring along guest speakers, more practiced in comedy and writing than the members to give talks, advice, feedback from a more experienced perspective than the usual group discussions, at others we attempt new styles of comedy and writing and give people the chance to try new styles and gain inspiration, at others we may plan outside excursions and meetings at comedy clubs, theatres, and cinemas to keep up with writing and comedy culture.

OBJECTIVE 3: ALWAYS- HELPING OUR ARTISTS PRESENT THEIR WORK

To either find a way to present the writing or comedy to audiences, be it live or in the form of audiobooks, podcasts, YouTube videos or an even a webpage which holds links to all of these. Or to put writers and comics in touch with people who could help give them the chance to show off their work, be that by giving a finished script to the theatre society or by putting comedians in touch with promoters and people running stand up nights, helping or helping someone through the various stages of self publishing.
