Clarity, Communication, and Community
If I were to be elected, I have three main areas I wish to focus on. These can be easily summarised using the following headings; Clarity, Communication, and Community (the “three C’s”, if you will)
1. Clarity
As a psychology student, mental health is a subject I am very passionate about. The mental health support facilities at Strathclyde are excellent, however my aim is to improve their accessibility for students and minimise confusion in what could be a very stressful or upsetting time. This could include presentations on where students can go to access certain support systems eg. counselling, and helping to improve the Nightline service.
2. Communication
I believe communication between students and staff is key to having a successful university experience. I aim to put more pressure on markers to be punctual in releasing grades, as I know how frustrating it can be to be waiting weeks for a result. I would also make sure to listen to any feedback given by students on how they think the faculty can be improved.
3. Community
I think developing a sense of community among all the students taking HaSS subjects is extremely important. To achieve this, I aim to support and encourage societies for subjects within the HaSS faculty to be more active, so that students can really feel like they are a part of something. I would also like to help run more events aimed specifically at HaSS students.
