The President is a passionate leader who drives policy-making, campaigning, representation and acts as one of the public spokespeople for the organisation. The President is responsible for ensuring good governance within the Union and also acts as chair of the Trustee Board.

Vice President Community is responsible for campaigning to widen development projects and opportunities for students. They will campaign to widen participation in extra-curricular activities and support the development of the clubs and societies. They lead on sustainability and environmental issues within the Union and University and foster collaboration between Strathclyde students, staff and local communities.

Vice President Education represents the academic interests of the student body to the University. They are responsible for ensuring that students have the best learning experience whilst studying at Strathclyde by implementing and developing education policies, as well as supporting the student rep system.

Vice President Inclusion champions equality, diversity and inclusion. They work with liberation groups, faith and culture societies, and marginalised students to ensure that their views are represented by lobbying the University and external agencies, developing campaigns and mobilising the wider student body to effect change.

Vice President Sport leads the Sports Union including chairing committees and representing the members to the University and external audiences. They are responsible for campaigning to widen participation in sport and physical activity and supporting the development of the sports clubs.

Vice President Welfare is responsible for campaigning on issues that affects student welfare and wellbeing including housing, mental health and financial hardship. They will represent student interests within the University and local community and ensure the Union supports welfare groups.

The BAME Rep promotes inclusivity on campus and is a spokesperson for all students of African, Arab, Caribbean, Asian, Latin American and First Nation decent. The BAME Rep sits on the Strathclyde Students’ Union Equality Diversity Committee. The Rep directly reports to the Vice President Inclusion and works closely together with the Student Exec on campaigns concerning students identifying as BAME. Has an important role in ensuring students have a say in how their Union is run and that elected representatives are held to account. They Chair Student Parliament meetings which include Student Executive accountability and debates on policy submissions and aim to increase engagement in student democracy.

The Disabled Students’ Rep promotes inclusivity on campus and is a spokesperson for all students that self-define as disabled students. The officer sits on the Strathclyde Students’ Union Equality Diversity Committee. The Disabled Students’ Rep directly reports to the Vice President Inclusion and works closely together with the Student Exec and the Disabled Students Group on campaigns concerning disabled students. Faculty Reps represent students’ views and interests at faculty-wide meetings and committees. They support the class reps in their faculty and act as a link between class reps, University staff and the Union. They will be engaged and involved in the Union’s education campaigns and events.

The Rep sits on Strath Students’ Union Equality and Diversity Committee and on the panel allocating the Faith and Culture Fund. The Rep directly reports to the Vice President Inclusion and works closely with the Student Exec on campaigns concerning students of faith. Honorarium of £600 (paid in instalments at the end of semesters) approx. commitment of 3 hours per week during semester.

The Mature Students’ Representative promotes inclusivity on campus, is a spokesperson for all students that are 21 years old or over at the start of their first degree.
