We’ll be putting on lots of events from Freshers Fairs and Speed Meetings to Campus Tours and Live Music. It’s your opportunity to learn more about societies and sports clubs, meet new friends, explore what Glasgow has on offer and celebrate the start of your university experience!
Keep up to date with all things Freshers 2022 by following us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. Don't forget to join the Freshers’ Group on Facebook to connect with students before, during and after you arrive.

Do I have to pay to attend Freshers’ Week events?

This depends entirely on the event. Most Strath Union run events will be free! If there is a charge for an event, it will be shared ahead of the event.

What do I need to get into Strath Union?

Everyone will need to present ID at the door for evening events. This needs to be your student card or student status on the Strathclyde app and an ID displaying your date of birth and a picture. Accepted ID at the Union includes passport, provisional/full driving licence or Young Scot Card.
Don’t worry if you’re under 18 when you start at Strathclyde you can still join us in the Union for our Freshers events.

How do I pay at Strath Union?

The Union is fully cashless, so you will need to bring a card to pay for coffee at Roasters or a drink at The Terrace.

How do I sign up for events?

You need to login on our website to sign up to events. All you need is the DS username and password assigned to you by the university.

If you have any issues with login you need to check your preference for sharing information with us and update it if needed before you can log on to our website.

What is the “Welcome Team”?

The Welcome Team is a group of Strathclyde students who volunteer to welcome new students to Strathclyde. They sport pink t-shirts and Union branded hats around campus, don’t be afraid to approach them, they’re happy to help.

There are lots of tickets being sold for Freshers’ events on other websites; which one do I choose?

We are the ONLY OFFICIAL providers of tickets for Strath Union events. Don’t buy tickets unless you are sure you know what you are getting for your money! Some Societies or Sports Clubs may use other ticket providers, so always contact them directly if you are unsure.
If you are in any doubt about tickets when you start in September you can chat to a Welcome Team member, a Strath Union/University of Strathclyde staff member or message us on social media for help!

I’ve still got questions!
