This is a new and exciting one-year post which would be ideal for a recent graduate to gain valuable work experience, as well as have an insight into a possible career path within the Third Sector.
You would be employed by Voluntary Action South Ayrshire, (VASA), the Third Sector Interface for South Ayrshire whose strapline is “We Make Help Happen” and who are passionate about enhancing the lives of local people and the environment.
You will be part of a small core team of professional, enthusiastic and forward-thinking individuals who are committed to the work of VASA.
The role would equip the successful candidate with transferable skills. A range of training would be available as well as spending time during the initial induction period with key team members in order to gain valuable knowledge about the Third Sector.
Responsible for: “Selling” and promoting the benefits of volunteering to the people of South Ayrshire over the age of 12. This will include developing a promotional campaign aimed at different target audiences, creating all publicity material, delivering presentations on volunteering and matching potential volunteers to opportunities.
Working closely with local community groups and charities, you will create new and exciting volunteering opportunities and use a range of media to promote vacancies.
Promotion of the benefits of the Saltire Award for young people aged between 12 and 26 will also form part of the role.

To produce short volunteer promotional videos using local volunteers

Offer one to one sessions for anyone looking to volunteer and carry out a one to one matching interview referring them to suitable opportunities
Ability to use listening skills to ensure that potential volunteers are matched to opportunities to suit them and to be able to steer them to other opportunities if what they are looking to do is deemed not suitable

Carry out evaluations on the success of matched volunteers over a three then six month period
Excellent evaluation skills and report writing

Promote the Saltire Awards and work with the North and South Carrick learning partnerships to develop Saltire in these areas and work with young people to deliver Saltire Challenges.
