A taxi on a Glasgow street

Glasgow Taxis Safe Home Scheme

We're partnered up with Glasgow Taxis to make sure that you can get home safely any time of day or night even if you don't have immediate access to money; all you need is your name and 9 digit Strathclyde student number and you can pay later!

If at any point you need to quickly leave one of our advice pages, you can hit escape to return to the landing page.

Get Home Safely

In order to use this scheme you must provide your full name and Strathclyde student number - please ensure you have this available when you make the booking or you will not be able to use the scheme.

To arrange a taxi, there's some simple steps to follow:

  1. Phone Glasgow Taxis on 0141 429 6666. Tell them that you are a Strathclyde student and you want to use the Safe Home Scheme. Please note that you must phone to arrange a taxi rather than picking one up from a taxi rank or hailing on the street; this is to ensure that it is a Glasgow Taxis car and driver sent to you and that the scheme will apply.

  2. The operator will take your details (full name, phone number, destination and pick up location, and your 9 digit student number - you can find this either on your physical student card or virtual one via the Strath app!). They will text you a link so you can track your taxi and see how close it is.

  3. Upon pick up, you will need to confirm to driver your name and student number so they can check your details.

Glasgow Taxis will confirm all journeys taken with Strath Union at which point we will invoice you after your journey so that you can arrange to pay us for the cost of your journey.

If you have any questions about the scheme, please contact The Advice Hub.
