Role 1:   Video Editor

This is a new role within the Sports Union team, created to support the filming, editing and production a weekly sports show which will be featured on our YouTube channel and promoted across social media.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging individual with experience of video production (including hobbyists!) and interest in sport to take on this role. The postholder will work closely with the Sports President and other students on a weekly basis to collate footage and then work independently to edit content and produce the finalised episode.

Role 2:   Membership Services assistant

The Membership Services Assistant is an established position within the Sports Union office and helps ensure the smooth operational delivery and customer service of student sport at Strathclyde.

Primarily this role acts as the friendly first point of contact for all general enquiries to the Sports Union, ensuring clear and knowledgeable information of sports clubs and other services is communicated. The postholder also provides administrative support for staff and students, including servicing of the transport system and student driver database.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right student to gain valuable experience in a business services role and boost their graduate employability.

Role 3:   BUCS Assistant

The BUCS Assistant is another brand-new role created to support our sports teams and athletes entered in British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) competitions during the 2021-22 seasons.

This position will provide an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in furthering their knowledge and experience of sports administration within a sport development environment.

As this is a new role, weekly hours and working patterns subject to change based on workload and availability of the postholder.

role 4:   Digital Content assistant

The Digital Content Assistant is our final new role within the team, created to assist the Sports Union office by planning, creating and curating audience engaging content for our social media and digital platforms. The position is joint funded by our partners Strathclyde Sport and will also work closely with their Communications Manager to promote the facility and its resources.  

Similar to all of the roles advertised, this is an excellent opportunity for a University of Strathclyde student to gain practical experience and develop industry relevant skills suitable for the graduate job market.

The University of Strathclyde Sports Union (“Sports Union”), located in Glasgow City Centre, is the coordinating body for sport and active health at the University of Strathclyde.

The Sports Union is a constituent group of Strathclyde Students’ Union (“Strath Union”) and integrated working partner of Strathclyde Sport, the University’s sport and recreation department. Together, we recognise the importance of an active lifestyle in both the experience that it provides our shared student audience as well as the positive impact it can have on their wellbeing.

Our team of Student Sport Assistants are individually tasked with supporting key areas of Sports Union business and to help provide a first-class customer service for our members. Line management of each role is delivered by a professional staff member and support is provided by the Sports President sabbatical officer.

PLACE OF WORKING

Normally based out of the £31m Strathclyde Sport facility, due to current circumstances, our team are working remotely however anticipate a return to campus by September 2021. Each role holder will be required to undertake work duties in office however we are a flexible bunch and can accommodate some agile working from home, where appropriate.
