Mature Students

These are services and resources currently offered to mature students through the students' union and the university.

What is a Mature Student?

A mature undergraduate student is identified as any student who is aged 21 years old or over on the 1st of September in the year in which their course starts. A mature postgraduate student is identified as any student who is aged 25 years old or over on the 1st of September in the year in which their postgraduate course starts.

Mature Students Association

The Mature Student Association is one of our largest societies. Located on the second floor of the Livingstone Tower, the MSA space consists of a large common room (complete with fridge, kettle, toaster and other basic cooking appliances), two group study rooms, a silent study room, a PC lab, a diversity room with PCs and the MSA Office, where the MSA Committee operate from.

Rooms are bookable through the MSA Committee. Whilst the MSA is there to serve any undergrad student who begins their studies after the age of 21, or any postgrad who begins their studies after the age of 25, there is also more targeted support for Postgraduate and Doctoral Students through our Postgraduate Society and Doctoral Research Group respectively.
