meet the candidates
Please take the time to get to know the 2021-22 Sports Exec candidates, by checking out their manifestos at the above link, and their videos here.
To be elected to the Sports Exec, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a 2019-20 and/or 2020-21 membership of the Sports Union
- Be a current student during the academic year in office (e.g. 2021-22)
- Only run for one nominated position
- Be nominated and seconded by two Sports Union members with a 2019-20 and/or 2020-21 membership
Voting for all Sports Exec positions will take place during the Sports Union Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 1st April 2021, which will run via zoom. All member Sports Clubs of the Sports Union will receive one vote for each of the positions.
Due to the impact of Covid-19, we encrouage candidates to submit a short video as means to get to know them, as there will not be an opportunity to speak during the AGM prior to the votes being cast.
Withdrawals must be submitted to the Returning Officer by email using only the candidate's University of Strathclyde student email account.
We believe that student sport has a key role to play within the University, and as it has been made even more evident during 2020-21, the Sports Exec have held a pivotal role in supporting our members through the hardship Covid-19 has brought to students at Strathclyde.
Volunteering as a member of the Sports Exec is great way to enhance your student experience and make the most of your time at Strathclyde. Previous members of the committee also used the opportunity to develop skills that complemented their education - a key factor that many employers look for on a CV or application form.
As well as the employability factor, the social side of being involved in the Sports Exec is second to none! There are also a few freebies too...
- Free Sports Union membership
- Free Captains Dinner ticket
- Free Sports Ball ticket
- Free official University of Strathclyde leisurewear
We offer a range of training and education workshops for volunteers on the Sports Exec, with the highlight being the annual Handover Residential, which will be dependent on Covid restrictions this year.
