Welcome to the University of Strathclyde Curling Club!

Strath Curl meets every Wednesday at Intu Braehead at 2:20 for a mix of training drills led by our qualified coaches and friendly practice games. All equipmet is provided but you are required to bring clean, flat shoes and warm, comfy clothes. Players of all abilities are more than welcome to join the fun and take part in one of Scotland's national sports.

If you're looking for something a bit more competitive then you're in luck. We participate in a range of competitions for all levels. Beginners can also take part in friendly games against other local clubs. More serious players can throw their hat into the ring for the SSS Curling League, which is where we play against other universities across the country. The highlight of the year is our weekend trip to the SSS Open held in Stranraer every April. Strathclyde are the reigning champions are we're looking forward to another huge year on the ice.

Don't forget to join us at our weekly social gatherings on Wednesday evenings in the City Centre!

How do I get to Intu Braehead?

Take the X7 bus at 13:30 from stance 44 at Buchanan Bus Station, which costs around £3.15 for a return ticket. Why not drop us a message on our social media pages and get in touch with other students also making the journey.

Any other questions? Ask away, contact details to reach student committee members can be found on the email link on this page or find us on our social media channels to message us directly.

1. Sports Union Membership – this is a flat £36 fee for the year (or £23 for one semester) which goes directly back to the club to fund various club activities and operations, including:

  • Personal accident and public liability insurance

2. Sports Club Bolt-on Fee – we also charge a £45 joining fee for the year (or £25 in your first year) which is charged to subsidise additional sport specific costs, such as ice fees. Come and meet us at the Sports Fair during Freshers Week or if can’t make it along, just rock up to one of our training sessions which can be found on the training link below. Feel free to come along and find one of our committee members if you have any questions – you can even drop us a message in advance on our social media channels.

We are also hosting a free Come & Try session following Sports Fair. This is a great opportunity to taste what life in a sports club can be like – why not even take a mate a long too?
