Welcome to the University of Strathclyde Rowing Club!
Strathclyde University Boat Club is situated in Glasgow Green in a new boathouse alongside the River Clyde. We take in members of all abilities, including those who have never rowed before. We have squads that train competively and recreationally and travel to events all around Britain.
Rowing is one of the few sports that has beginner events for those who are just learning to row and we run learn to row sessions throughout the year. Our beginner program has produced multiple medals in recent years, with members who learnt to row at the club going on to trial and compete for their countries and university internationally.
We primarily hold our training at the weekends but provide opportunities to train and row throughout week for anyone interested. Our training sessions are split between rowing on the water and training in the gym at the boathouse. In between rowing, we have weekly socials for everyone in the club with a variety of activities including an end of year dinner for past and current members.
If you're interested in joining come visit us at the freshers fair, or send us an email to find out more information.
Any questions? Ask away, contact details to reach student committee members can be found on the email link on this page or find us on our social media channels to message us directly.
Membership – what do I need?
1. Sports Union Membership – this is a flat £30 fee for the year (or £20 for one semester) which goes directly back to the club to fund various club activities and operations, including:
- Personal accident and public liability insurance
- Coaching fees, competition entry and transport costs, club equipment and external facility hire
2. Sports Club Bolt-on Fee – we also charge joining fees for the year which is charged to subsidise additional sport specific costs such as buying and maintaining equipment. Our fees are: Senior - £70 (full year), £35 (semester only); Novice - £60 (full year), £30 (semester only); Graduate - £70 (full year). This fee is charged on top of the Sports Union membership and again, goes directly back to the club and participants taking part in our activities.
