Pool & Snooker

Welcome to the Strathclyde Pool and Snooker Sports Union page!

We are a club open to players of all abilities, as we play both casually and competitively. We mostly play 8-Ball Pool, but occasionally enter into Snooker and 9-Ball events as well.

All are welcome at our weekly casual tournaments. These are held at either Strath Union or Scruffy Murphys (previously Sportsterz) at 7pm on Mondays, with £4 entry and cash prizes for the winner and runner-up.

We also take part in competitions against other universities, including the annual BUCS 8-Ball event. The club has a great competitive history, winning BUCS teams a few years back and always placing well, and consitently competing for first place in the Scottish University Pool Championship as well. Strath Pool is well known (and feared) by all. All these events are great fun, and a few involve going away for a few nights with an amazing team. Competition weekends are some of the best memories you can make at Uni, and we guarantee you will enjoy what we have to offer.

We are also partial to a social every now and then, with our dedicated Social Co-ordinatior organising nights out with fun and exciting themes!

We encourage eveyone of all abilities to come and try pool, theres no better time to pick it up and meet some great people.

A fun club for any students at Strathclyde University, we welcome all abilities to our weekly practice/competition in the Union on Monday nights at 7pm.  We have something to offer for everyone from social players up to the national level. Whether you've never held a cue or you’re a bona fide hustler, there is a place for you in our club!  As well as our Monday nights, we hold other practices at pool halls for you to learn and better your skills.

Pool & Snooker is a great way to meet new people, to join a growing and diverse family, and to represent the University at multiple tournaments. You don’t have to play in events - or even have a sports union membership – to come and hang out with us on Mondays. It's £3 for an evening of pool, which is a pretty good deal. We also have club socials throughout the year where we leave the cues at home.
