The following sports clubs are run by SU Sport. The content is managed by each individual club.
thSail is an extremely friendly and inclusive sailing club which welcomes everyone and provides a safe and fun environment in which to develop your sailing skills. We compete regularly in Dinghy and Yachting competitions which include Team Racing, Match Racing, and Fleet Racing disciplines. If competing isn't your thing, don't worry! We are an extremely sociable club that meets every Wednesday for recreational sailing followed by drinks and free food at our sponsor bar! In the summer you will be sure to see us whip out a BBQ or Pizza oven at recreational sailing! We also host a weekends cruise around the Firth of Clyde in September, as well as a week long summer holiday yachting cruise in Croatia or Greece. If you are a complete beginner to sailing, we run a learn to sail course throughout both semesters to which anyone is welcome!
We hope to see you out on the water soon!

1. Sports Union Membership – this is a flat £30 fee for the year (or £23 for one semester) which goes directly back to the club to fund various club activities and operations, including:
2. Sports Club Bolt-on Fee – we also charge a £10 joining fee for the year which is charged to subsidise additional sport specific costs such as buying and maintaining equipment. This fee is charged on top of the Sports Union membership and again, goes directly back to the club and participants taking part in our activities.
Click on the Join button to sign up to the Sports Union through our web shop. Don’t forget to select Sailing so you automatically register with the club for the academic year and the committee can give you a Club Membership Card. Read our Membership Terms & Conditions here.
Get involved in the Sports Fair during Freshers Week! Feel free to also get in touch with the club via the social channels if you have any questions.
If you are keen to get involved midway through the semester and haven’t bought a membership yet, you can register for one free Taster Pass with the Sports Union. Just drop the team a line on strathunion.vpsport@strath.ac.uk and we will prepare one in advance to collect from the office in Strathclyde Sport.
