Learn more about the annual FREE taster sport sessions open to all University of Strathclyde students.

What is come & try?

During Freshers Week Strathclyde Sports Union Clubs put on FREE taster sport sessions to all University of Strathclyde students. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or complete beginner, we have something for you! What better way to get into University life, than getting involved in student sport at Strathclyde.

Club come & try sessions will prodominantly be on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th September 2025 but please check the timetables below per sport. For sessions which are at our outdoor facilitiies at Stepps Playing Fields, and other external facilities, free transport will be provided to and from the facility. See the timetable below for details. All activities are led by students clubs so check out their individual social media pages for further details.

 

Sign up

To attend any of the club sessions, participants are required to sign up either at Sports Fair or contact the club directly. Club contacts and social media details can be found in the club directory section of the website.

Stepps playing fields

Because our outdoor playing fields are not in the city centre, we provide free shuttle busses to and from the venue and sessions will only be held on Thursday 18th Septebmer. The buses will leave from Collins Street (just along the road from Strathclyde Sport Centre) and will take participants back after the come & try session has finished. Club committee memebers will be there to meet and greet you.
