Strathclyde are founding members of the Glasgow Taxis Cup, Scotland's largest varsity competition. The event takes place annually in March, pitching University of Strathclyde student teams against city counterparts from the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Caledonian University. This academic year the main event will be held on Wednesday 20th March 2024.

Varsity involves over 700 student athletes and has expanded over the years to include 16 sports featured on one Wednesday afternoon of student sport. Recent host venues include the Emirates Arena, hub location for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

In July 2017 the Glasgow Taxis Cup organising committee signed a long-term contract with Glasgow Taxis Ltd., worth over £50,000 towards the development and promotion of the nations premier Varsity competition. Keep an eye on the Glasgow Taxis Cup instagram for a timetable of events.
