Volunteering: Hear to Listen

I signed up for Volunteering in 2023 as I saw this as a good opportunity not only to help others but also to meet people and make new connections. I also decided to join as I had heard how helpful and understanding the listeners from this service were. 

Upon joining, I did feel a little out of depth due to the fact that I struggle to communicate with people that I do not know however, this became easier over time. I soon realised that the space created by the listeners is not only open and safe for students but for the listeners as well. Our training sessions also helped with my communication skills which made this process easier. 

Overall, I have loved being a part of Hear to Listen and I would highly recommend that students get involved with volunteering.
