This page contains information on the societies policy and constitution, and provides some extra resources for effective governance of your society.

Policy

The societies policy can be viewed here. This lays out how all strath union societies must run.

Constitution

This section outline what a constitution is, its importance and where you should display your societies constitution.

What is a constitution?

Your constitution is a general standing document which guides your society, both now and in future, on how to stay true to its core aims and operations.

How can we display our constitution?

Once you have completed the document as part of the reaffiliation process you should  upload it to your society webpage.

Why is a constitution important?

It is important to produce a constitution as it outlines the core purpose of your society for future committees, and uploading it to your webpage is required to achieve Active and Engaged badges and awards.

How do I change my society's constitution?

If you want to make any changes to your constitution, these will need to be approved by Socs Exec. You can complete a Socs Exec Request form below, the templates can be found in the form

Socs Exec Request

Governance & Procedure

If at any point you wish to make changes to your committee, you must organise an EGM and invite all student members of your society to nominate themselves for the vacant position and vote.  Every society must hold an AGM before applying for reaffiliation during semester 3.
