About me

Hi, I'm Oshione (she/her/hers). I am your VP Inclusion for the 25/26 session. I'm currently a PhD student in Chemical and Process Engineering.

I studied previously as an international student for my masters and I worked in the engineering sector which traditionally features fewer females in my home country. So, I have first-hand experience of the importance of everyone feeling accepted and able to thrive. This is a key part of what motivated me to vie for the position of VP Inclusion at Strath Union.

I am passionate about creating and sustaining an inclusive campus where every student feels seen, heard and supported.

Outside of my research and work at the University, I enjoy connecting with people, exploring new food spots around Glasgow, and getting involved in student-led initiatives that push for meaningful change.

My manifesto

1. Conduct a baseline survey targeting 60% response rate to assess the level of inclusion as perceived by students in the university.

2. Adapt reflective questions from the National Framework for Inclusion to engage with policy in order to extend inclusive reflective practices.

3. Widen reach, promote diversity and inclusion by at least 20% via improved representation and facilitation of equality of opportunity.

4. Engage and collaborate with student representatives across departments to brainstorm on issues of inclusion concern with a view to make specific recommendations and map out action plan.
