About me

Hey everyone, I'm Anna! I've had the absolute pleasure of being your VP Sport over the past year, and I'm so excited to be back for round two. Over the last six years, I've been involved in pretty much every part of the Sports Union ‐ starting as a club member, then taking on committee roles, sitting on Sports Exec, and now leading the Sports Union. It's been such a big part of my student life, and I'm incredibly proud to be representing a community that means so much to me.

You'll usually find me yapping away to members at events, training sessions or club meetings ‐ or with a mic in hand belting out a tune at Kwaku's Karaoke (no regrets). I've played netball for as long as I can remember, and that's where my love for team sport and student leadership really started. Sport has given me confidence, friendships, and memories I'll always carry with me, and I want every student to have that chance too.

In my role, my job is to make sure student sport at Strathclyde is accessible, well-supported, and most importantly FUN!! Whether you're a competitive athlete, just fancy trying something new, or want to get involved behind the scenes, there's always a space for you in our community. From BUCS competitions and recreational leagues to outreach and volunteering pathways, there's so much on offer. I'm here to make sure your voice is heard and your experience is the best it can be.

My manifesto

1. Strategic Alliance Framework (SAF)

   With the work myself and the Strath Union Exec have done in this year's SAF, I have a real opportunity to build upon this year's and develop a proper roadmap for progression of sport in the university to be taken further.

2. Strathclyde Union Strategy

   Furthermore, with the Strathclyde Union's renewal of its current strategy I will ensure sport is included and I want to use the student dialogue to feed into this ‐ I will work with clubs to ensure clubs and athletes get the support and backing they need.

3. Stronger Support for Clubs & Athletes

   Tackle key issues like funding, facilities, and communication. Work closely with clubs to understand their unique challenges and provide real solutions. I will ensure no team or individual athlete feels unheard or undervalued.
