About me

Hey guys, I'm Tilly! I am your Sports President for the 2026-27 academic year, and I am so excited to represent you all. To be honest, sport at Strathclyde has made my university experience so memorable and brilliant. For the past 4 years I have competed for both the women's football and badminton clubs, sitting on both clubs' committees alongside being the events officer for the Sports Exec for Strath Sports Union. Without being cringe, I absolutely adore Sports Union and everything it has given me, and it is a privilege to represent your student voices and make Strathclyde University even better!

Day to day, you will predominantly find me yapping away in the Strathclyde Sport sauna, having a drink (or two...) on the Terrace and, of course, attending or playing at sports events and sessions. Ahead of this year, I want to encourage student engagement and create a cohesive network for sports clubs to support each other. As one thing I have learned from my time as a sports club committee member is that whatever struggles you are having, there is almost definitely another club that has the answer.

As Sports President, it is my duty to ensure student sport at Strathclyde is inclusive, valuable, collaborative, and, as a whole, FUN! My aim is to highlight all the incredible work that our students do; this can be anything from a fundraiser, kit design, winning the league, or having a great social. Sport at Strathclyde is so much more than being physically active and competing, and it is my job to showcase this and make your experience as unforgettable as mine has been.

So, please, if you ever see me around campus, in the Sports Union, or at an event, please come say hi! My social battery is almost never dead, and I would love to have a chat with all of you about your experience with student sports. Oh and of course, #webleedmaroon #monthetech :)

My manifesto

1. Promote Inter-club Communication

   • WhatsApp groups for every committee position
   • Giving clubs the ability to utilise each other's connections and a point of contact with the Sports VP

2. Boost Club Social Media Pages

   • Weekly home fixtures posts on Instagram
   • 'Strath Star' of the month to promote non–sporting club achievements

3. Strengthen Communication on Club Events

   • Awareness of facilities available for event hire (e.g. Strath Union's 'The Venue')
   • Emphasis on proactive communication between the SSU, SU, and Strath Sport

4. Fight Consistent Issues in Sports Union Facilities

   • Stepps cancellation communication and support
   • Speak out on clubs' desire for Stepps redevelopment
   • Strath Sport training availability, support clubs in alternative
