Hey, I'm Fraser, your President for this academic year, and I'm looking forward to meeting you all. I've worked at Roasters for the past four years, and you'll still be able to find me there at my favourite spot. I studied Politics & International Relations and studied abroad in Dunedin, New Zealand. I clearly like my travel, both UK and abroad, but also take part in theatre and musical theatre, and I'm a (failing) Strava influencer with my running and cycling.
My job is to represent your interests through Union governance and policy, and I am always available for a chat. You can find me around the Union or shoot me a message on my official social media.

Building upon our recent democracy review through ensuring representation of all students and visibility.
Building upon work completed last year to raise the visibility of the President's role into all five full-time elected officers, ensuring the Executive is as visible and accessible to students as possible.
Work on ensuring all Equality and Faculty Officers are visible and accessible to students represented by them through prioritising opportunities to increase their reach towards students.
Enhancing the feedback loop bewteen all elected officers by holding full meetings to ensure all members are updated on each others work, allowing for strategic discussion and effective advocation.
The Union will advocate for faith-based needs through forming close connections with the Chaplaincy, helping fill gaps in faith-based needs, and ensuring fair inclusion of faith within Strathclyde.
The Union will advocate for mature students through forming a close connection with the Mature Students' Association, promoting the MSA as a space for students, and platforming their events through the Union's spaces.
Boosting our structure's effectiveness through how students see our Democracy and Parliament.
To illustrate to students how change occurs within their Union in an accessible and easy-to-digest manner.
Allowing students, elected and non-elected, to take the lead on policy that matters to them through committees which strategises how officers can advocate for policy and give opportunity to students through campaigns.
To ensure policy is passed within Student Parliament is enacted upon from Executive to Executive, policy tracking with be reported upon within Parliament and steps taken to ensure accountability of relevant officers.
Doing this to our yearly agreement with the University gives a jump start to student-centred proposals, allows further visibility of the agreement, and begins the completion process earlier.
Utilise our Union's potential through commercial and social events which bring students together.
Continue the excitement of Freshers throughout the academic year by having The Terrace and bar host more themed nights, student–led takeovers, and events that make the Union's bar come alive.
Introduce cheap and culturally diverse goods back into our Union menus, ensuring a wealth of options are present and students can contribute to their food choices, including gluten–free and vegetarian/vegan.
The Union is a safe space for LGBT+ students, and we should have more celebration of our pride through more collaboration with LGBT+ groups, themed Terrace nights, and events focused on community building.
Strathclyde's green spaces should be utilised for the potential they have, and students should be at the forefront of that through community gardening projects, student–led design of spaces, and volunteering rewards.
Encouraging students to take an active part in their Union's Democracy and Campaigns, promoting student participation at all times.
Formalise a campaigns calendar by Freshers so students know what campaigns they can get involved in early.
Ensure the Union continueas to be a safe space for students to have fun and foster a healthy balance of alcohol consumption.
Take a lead in reinvigorating our Action Groups and student–led campaigns culture by actively promoting existing and new Action Groups to be revamped.
Invite Union Action Groups to report to Student Parliament and elected Officers directly, propose policy as a group, and hold Officers accountable towards advocation for student–led campaigns.
Repurpose the 2026 Scottish Elections Civic Campaign to ensure students are informed to vote in upcoming council elections.
Promoting the opportunities students can seize through strengthening the services the Union provides.
Increase the visibility of the service throughout the website and Union spaces to ensure students know about real living wage opportunities.
Outline how the Union will advocate on AI usage within Strathclyde through an operational list of principles which elected officers will advocate from/
The Union should advocate the ethical usage of AI throughout Strathclyde, and ensure that when AI is used, it is clear that it is being used, as well as promoting the benefits of cultural activities and learning from human skills and expertise.
A redirection of policy focus does not take away from the work I wish to continue advocating for within my role.
Double–down on the Union President's visibility through continued drop–in session, attending Union events, continuing the feedback form and public calendar, and being even more active within the Union's community.
Work towards growing the number of voters in Elections, make Autumn Elections more visible, and work towards ever successful Spring Elections.
Ensuring the Union President is a person students can approach so they can utilise the Union's resources and space for their organised events and campaigns.
Continue the support given to cultural groups within the Union to promote and facilitate their events, further integration of cultural celebrations within the University calendar, and more events focused on cultural exchange.
Advocating for arts and culture within the Union, the continuation of the Arts & culture Fund, and platform student'led performances on campus.
