Guidance and support

Phineas Chiketsani

"Having served as president of the Strathclyde Trading and Portfolio Management Society in the 19/20 academic year, and as a project manager with the Strathclyde Business Network in 2019, I have first-hand experience in planning and organising student initiatives. I look forward to playing my part in supporting the Union's clubs and societies."

Laura Milligan

"Last year my friend and I set up a new society at Strathclyde, the Musical Theatre Society (SMTS). Through doing this I learned a lot about the ins and outs of clubs and societies at Strathclyde. As part of the Club Exec team, I’d love to help ensure that other new societies at the University get the support they need when starting out. I’ve met so many lovely people and had great experiences through SMTS, and I would encourage anyone who has been thinking about it to create one of their own too!"

Liam Mosson

"I've been involved with many societies in my first year and I'm on the committee for Strathclyde Model United Nations. I have witnessed first hand the benefits clubs & societies have on students at university; from helping students integrate into the university lifestyle to enhancing key skills and attributes needed both in and out of university. I hope to draw on my experience from being a class representative, election candidate and an avid enthusiast for the development of clubs and societies at Strathclyde to maintain and improve the setting for which the clubs and societies exec operates in 20/21."

Sheik Malik

"Since beginning my PhD at Strathclyde just over a year ago, I have setup 3 clubs and societies: Strathclyde University Hot Air Ballooning Society, Strathclyde Speakers and reaffiliated TEDx University of Strathclyde. I strongly believe clubs and societies are the essential part of what makes students' experience at University unique and memorable. I want to promote greater collaboration between clubs and use my experience to help all the different amazing clubs at Strathclyde to achieve incredible things!"

Ellie Swanston

"I have been involved with clubs and societies since my first year at Strath. I've been involved with Girl Up since its second meeting, becoming a General Member, Vice Secretary and then President last year! I've loved being able to meet new people with similar interests!"

Madeleine Taylor

"I’m in my final year studying Chemistry and I’ve loved being a part of SUSO (Strathclyde University Symphony Orchestra) since I started uni, and I enjoyed getting to contribute by being treasurer for 2 years. I’m looking forward to getting involved again as part of the Clubs Exec committee."

Tom Lam

"I've been President of StrathTV (filmmaking society) for 3 years now. My team and I have collaborated with multiple Union clubs, ranging from the Piano Society to the Chinese Students & Scholars Society. As a Club Exec, I will continue to support the Union in any way I can and provide the best University experience to current and prospective students."

Ru Wallace (Chair)

"As VP Community, I want to make sure that everyone can enjoy all areas of student life, whether that’s through clubs and societies, engagement with people, your course, or just having some fun on campus!"
