Learn to Fly at Strathaven Airfield. Regular aviation events including networking and engineering on planes. Get in touch to find out more!

We are a flying club mainly operating out of Strathaven airfield, 19.5nm NE of Prestwick Airport or a forty-minute drive from the university. We fly the Ikarus C42 microlight aircraft which has been named the 'sports car of the skies' and allows you to work towards your National Private Pilot’s Licence.

While our main aim is to fly, and we work hard to get discounts and help you achieve bursaries to fund your flying, we realise this is an expensive hobby. We therefore, offer a variety of aviation themed events and trips throughout the year such as, visits to other airfields and aviation maintenance facilities.

To reflect this, we offer two memberships:

Full Membership £45

  • Short trial flight in a microlight aircraft similar to the C42
  • Access to all our networking and social events throughout the year

Half membership £10

  • Access to all our networking and social events throughout the year

While we are based at The University of Strathclyde we are open all students at universities across the west of Scotland and would love to hear from you if you are at all interested in aviation and flying!
