Strathclyde Archive LGBT+ Display

What's occurring?

Attend at any time during library opening hours.

The Archive Display is a joint initiative between Strathclyde Library Archives and the Equality & Diversity Office, showcasing Strathclyde's archival materials pertaining to the historical experience of the LGBT+ community from the 1960s to the present day. The exhibition will feature various student publications such as The Strathclyde Telegraph, Strath Union welfare booklets, and more.

The display will present changing and emerging attitudes towards the LGBT+ community over time, including support and opposition from outside and within the Strathclyde community. It will also demonstrate the reaction towards the community’s increasing visibility and 'coming out,' culminating in solidarity and the creation of Glasgow's first Gay Society – a safe space that emerged almost a decade before homosexuality was legalised in Scotland.
