Lifesaving Work
Glasgow Marrow is part of the student run branch of Anthony Nolan, the national charity that runs the UK’s leading stem cell register. They maintain the UK's stem cell register - a list of livesaving heroes who are willing to donate stem cells or bone marrow to strangers in desperate need of a transplant. They also support patients and their families throughout the transplant process and conduct vital research to help improve patient outcomes.
We recruit potential donors to the register at events throughout Glasgow and the West of Scotland, in the hope they will one day be a match for a patient with blood cancer. We also fundraise for the charity to keep Anthony Nolan's lifesaving work going.
Glasgow Marrow stretches across all three universities in Glasgow meaning you get to meet people from different backgrounds and different courses! We host game nights, social events and keep regularly in contact with each other, making it a great social experience whilst doing something so rewarding. We have successfully continued operating remotely last year and are very excited to be back in person for events this year!
Interested in getting involved? You can make a real difference during your time at university by volunteering with a society that saves lives. Last year we recruited over 750 potential donors and raised £5000 for the charity. We can do even better this year, but we need your help.
