Care Experience & Estranged Students Society

Care experienced & estranged students are an incredibly diverse, creative, motivated, resilient and unique community. We want to support, empower and bring us together. We know that we often deal with circumstances and situations that few other people do - and we want to support you in any way we can through your studies.

The society is run exclusively by care experienced and estranged students, for care experienced and estranged students. We have a hugely diverse range of students involved, from undergraduates, to postgrads, mature students, across all disciplines.

We aim to be as inclusive as possible, welcoming care experienced and estranged students regardless of background, mental or physical disability (including hidden disabilities), race, religion, sexuality, gender, or gender identity.

We love to keep in touch with regular monthly newsletters throughout the year, as well as staying up to date on socials. Plus, we have a safe space chatroom app available to all members of the society with support, resources, and discussion about all things to do with university life!

Past society events include:

• Easter events decorating eggs with fun arts & crafts
• Christmas events cooking dinner together as a group
• Drop ins and social events on days that may be difficult, e.g. Christmas, Mother's/Father's Day

We always try to ensure that care experienced and estranged students voices are represented, and work closely with the Union, Widening Access Team within the university, and the Student Exec.
