Every year, the University of Strathclyde Motorsport (USM) team designs, builds, markets and races a single-seater racing car as part of the international Formula Student initiative.
Every year, the University of Strathclyde Motorsport designs, builds, markets and races a single-seater racing car as part of the global Formula Student initiative, a series of international competitions focused on developing engineering and business talent in a practical, competitive and high-octane environment. Formula Student is an opportunity to develop many multi-disciplinary skills in either our Technical or Operations teams. With team members from a variety of different departments around the university, from years 1 - 5, there's a place in our team for everyone. Having just made the transition to an EV powertrain, it is an exciting time to be a part of the team!
What is Formula Student?
Formula Student is an international engineering and design competition in which teams of students design, build and race single-seater race cars. Cars are judged not only on racing performance during dynamic events, but also on design and build quality, financial efficiency, environmental impact and the car's appeal to an open race car market in the cost and business case presentations.
