About us

Visit our website at www.strathclydetelegraph.com

Want to be part of a student publication entirely written, edited, and produced by students? Want to find out what it's like working in the media, both in print and online? Then the Strathclyde Telegraph is for you!

All students can join us regardless of the subjects they study. You do not need writing experience (or any other journalism experience), and there is no minimum or maximum commitment! We are all students and know how busy things can get, so if you want to be part of a student media publication in any way, shape, or form alongside your studies, you are welcome here!

We aim to provide those joining our society with a creative way to get experience in their areas of interest (be that news, features, sports, multimedia, creative writing, graphic design...) and act as a platform for students to gain valuable experience in submitting and editing for print and online. We also want to serve the Strathclyde community as a way to provide a frequent outlet to inform students, and to cover cultural events of significance in the university, the city of Glasgow, and beyond.

We have contributor groups on social media through which we give out article pitches for our main sections: news, politics, features, music, culture, arts, lifestyle, sports, creative writing, and tech, science and health. But don't feel limited by these labels – we are open to all ideas and will help you craft these into a story! Just get in touch with us.

We meet several times throughout the semester – please check our socials for where and when!

2025 / 2026

The 2025/26 year was an exciting and hugely successful one for the Strathclyde Telegraph team, made even more special as every member of the committee stepped into brand new roles and learned everything from scratch. We’re incredibly proud of how much we achieved together in such a short space of time.

We published two print editions - one in December and a second in May. The May issue featured a completely refreshed design and really shows how far the team has come in just a few months.

That edition was also shared widely on social media by politicians and journalists, recognising the creativity, effort, and passion behind it.

Beyond print, we organised two brilliant events in collaboration with the JMC department and the NUJ. A quiz night with JMC students and a celebrity interviewing talk alongside an introduction to the NUJ with Dr Catherine Deveney.

We’re also incredibly proud of our team’s achievements this year. Our photographer, Jason Fong, won the SPA National Award for Best Student Photographer of the Year, and our Editor-in-Chief, Julia Braun Raven, was named Arts Writer of the Year at the Herald Student Press Awards.
