Job Purpose:

To have overall responsibility for creating, curating and posting content across all social channels to achieve engagement, reach and lead generation.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create and curate dynamic written, graphic, and video content that promotes and increases audience interaction and action
  • Build a bank of content that is topical and of value to Strathclyde students
  • Commission student generated SEO content in the form of blogs and stories
  • Manage social channels: email, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other relevant platforms
  • Advertise brand messages on social channels (ads and messenger)
  • Propose and deliver new ideas and concepts for social media content
  • Promotion of Union flagship campaigns to promote the full breadth of Union services: Freshers, Refresh/Welcome Back (January), Elections.
  • Social listening to our audience and competitors to build a deeper understanding of sentiment toward our brand, products and features, as well as current conversations, topics and relevant cultural movements.
  • All admin associated with the role including:  Maintaining and adding to the Union’s Content Calendar, managing content calendar booking requests, budgeting for projects as required, monthly reports

 

Key relationships:

Internal: Marketing and Communications team, Sabbatical Officers, students, Clubs and Societies, Volunteers, Class Reps, Sports Clubs, staff of Strath Union.

External: University Corporate Communications and Departments, NUS, colleagues in other students’ unions,

 

Other Information:

The role is subject to a 3-month probationary period.

Regarding pensions, the post-holder will be eligible to join the Strath Union workplace pension scheme

The post may include occasional evening and weekend work.

It is expected that the starting grade for this role would be 4.1

31 days annual leave per year plus 11 public/bank/local holidays (Pro rata as necessary)

Experience of working with social media, SEO, PPC, content creation, channel co-ordination & management and website content management systems

Experience of effectively multi-tasking

Experience of developing and managing social media channels and campaigns

x

 

Relevant skills and experience of social media and digital marketing within  student involvement, events and/or membership services

 

x

Experience of working with in a busy office environment

experience of working in a multi-client, digital marketing environment
