Listed by DB Sporting Enterprises Ltd

Applying

To apply please send us an email (info@dbsporting.co.uk) with a brief explanation of why you think you are suitable for the position. Let us know what sports and aspects of gambling you are most comfortable writing about and what experience you have. Also please advise roughly how many words you would be interested in writing per week, though we can be flexible with this when you are busy, or have exams or holidays.

Rate

£12.00 - £15.00

Hours

We are seeking someone willing to submit at least 2,000 words per week on average. All work will have deadlines but these will be agreed in advance and will usually be relatively flexible.

Interview

We operate a system of a paid trial whereby you would send us one article (we will supply the title/subject matter) so we can assess your ability and suitability. You would be paid at the full rate for this.

Details

We are looking for a number of copywriters to assist with our network of sports and gambling websites on a freelance basis.

Applicants must have excellent written skills and the ability to research and analyse a given topic before producing original copy of a high quality on the specified subject. A very good knowledge of sport and gambling (especially online and mobile) is absolutely essential. The ability to work independently and provide copy punctually and to set guidelines and deadlines is also vital and the work could include but is not limited to:

  • Explaining how specific betting markets work (for example, betting on over/under goals in football or handicap betting in rugby)
  • Explaining different types of bets in easy-to-understand language (for example, Lucky 15s, Super Heinz, full-cover bets)
  • Explaining how certain rules/aspects of sport work (for example, turnovers in American football or the offside rule in football)
  • Topical articles relating to sport and/or gambling (for example, the relationship between cryptocurrencies and football clubs)
  • Other miscellaneous articles relating to sports or gambling (for example, explain how bookmakers set their odds, or whether there’s a gambling ombudsman)

Most pieces tend to be 2,000 words or more, though this varies, and we will provide rough guidelines for most requests on a case-by-case basis.

Pay

The rate of pay is 1.5p per word (so £15 per 1,000-word article for example. A rate of £15 per hour would therefore be applicable based on taking 60 minutes to complete a 1,000 article. We expect at least 800 words per hour to be achievable for all writers once they get to grips with the work, giving an hourly rate of at least £12.
