The University of Strathclyde’s Catering Department are seeking a Content Creator to implement the Sales and Marketing plan, overseeing digital content and social media accounts. Exceptional organisational skills and keen attention to detail are essential for this role.

 

As an enthusiastic and highly competent social media user, you will be responsible for overseeing the Catering’s social media channels. Following the marketing plan, you will be required to consistently post dynamic content to increase student engagement. You must be competent with Instagram, TikTok and other relevant platforms.

 

The catering offers various outlets across campus, consisting of a diverse product range. An ability to retain knowledge across multiple product ranges is advantageous for the role. You will also work on the Catering’s website, updating online information to ensure it is relevant to students and staff. You will be the initial point of contact for social media enquiries and digital content creation.

 

The role is extremely flexible around studies. You will be a part of the Catering’s Administration Team based on the John Anderson campus. The hours for this position vary and may be roughly around 10 hours per week.  Hours for this role are paid monthly in arears, so hours worked will be collated and paid the following month through the Engagement of Workers scheme.

 

Brief Outline of Job:

The content creator will be a key member of the Catering department that engages with the University’s online community. This will be primarily through Instagram, TikTok and email communications. You may also conduct occasional administrative support and liaising with other departments when necessary.  

 

As a talented administer of social media accounts, you will be responsible for creating a variety of content, managing posts, and responding to followers. You will reflect the University image in a cohesive way to achieve our marketing. You must be up to date with the latest digital technologies and social media trends. You must monitor and evaluate the success of the sales and marketing plan, communicating progress with the team. This role requires excellent communication and organisational skills to effectively handle the catering’s social media presence, ensuring high levels of web traffic and customer engagement. 

 

Main Activities/Responsibilities:

1.

Publish content to social media channels on a regular basis, in line with the marketing plan and key trade dates whilst remaining agile to product and promotional changes.

  2.

Assist the Catering management team with generating creative ideas for social media-content including campaign assets, real-time videos and copy.

 

  3.

Assist the Catering management team to develop new social initiatives i.e partnerships, competitions, giveaways.

 

4.

Ensure regular communication with our audiences to build brand trust and loyalty.

5.

Review social media impact (reach, shares, likes etc.) and monitor competitor activity and social trends. Feedback to the Catering management team and consider recommendations based on findings to ensure the brand remains relevant and competitive.

6.

Act as the point of contact for university clubs and societies to link them into opportunities for promotional events with Catering.

7.

Review and keep online information about Retail Catering up to date for students and staff. Liaise with University  Webteam and app developers to update information where necessary.

8.

To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably associated with the post.

Person Specification

Educational and/or Professional Qualifications

Experience of working or training/qualification in a digital, marketing or communications related discipline

 

Job Related Skills and Experience

Excellent organisational skills, able to handle a wide range of operational and staff demands

 

Demonstrable proficiency with key Social Media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok

 

 Use of IT packages such as Microsoft Office and social media management applications/websites

 

  Experience of diary management with Outlook e-mail

 

Personal Attributes
