Job Duration

Lessons are for 2 hours per week, per level, for a term of 10 weeks, and terms run three times per year.

Details

Part-time Spanish language teacher position available for a qualified and experienced teacher of Spanish language.

Responsabilities:

Teaching

  • Maintain the teaching standards and practices of Live Language
  • Identify learning styles, objectives and needs of all students
  • Be fully aware of and follow course guidelines for any classes taught, using methodology, syllabus, teaching materials and techniques or any other criteria specified
  • Create interesting, balanced, learner-centred lessons and activities consisting of a coherent system of purposeful actions, based on the stated course / lesson objectives
  • Communicate, use and develop learners’ language systems and skills appropriate to their needs, level and lesson target language
  • Show responsiveness towards learner needs and preferences
  • Ensure learners are aware of lesson aims
  • Set and correct homework as appropriate to course guidelines and needs and abilities of learners
  • Create a positive learning atmosphere in the class, ensure that students participate purposefully in lessons and maintain reasonable standards of behaviour.
  • Test and evaluate students accurately and thoroughly as required in course guidelines.
  • Give feedback to students on progress, future goals and study strategies.
  • Start and finish lessons on time. Arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before class starts
  • Ensure all materials meet appropriate legal requirements eg copyright, and a high standard of presentation is met
  • Facilitate effective and autonomous learning, both during and outwith class time.
  • Show commitment to own professional development 2.

Non-teaching Duties

  • To monitor attendance and student compliance with the school’s Code of Conduct
  •  Participate in periodic lesson observations and professional development sessions
  •  Complete other paperwork as required, including absence / holiday request forms, timesheets etc.
  • Report any faulty equipment or maintenance issues to School Manager

General 

  • To attend staff meetings as required by management.
  • Encourage student participation by being positive and enthusiastic about the activities in which they are involved.
  • Maintain a professional attitude with students, clients and colleagues.
  • To be punctual at all times and to pay constant attention to the students in the school or on activities/ excursions.
  • Assist, in any capacity, and as directed by the person responsible, in case of accident, ill-health or emergency.
  • All relationships with students must be professional at all times.
  • Dress appropriately for the task being performed.
