Role Description

Based within our Student Engagement team and working in partnership with University of Strathclyde’s Entrepreneurship & Employability Lead, this role will deliver a portfolio of activities which embed entrepreneurship into the student experience and develop the Strathclyde Students’ Union (Strath Union) entrepreneurship offering.

You will support our aspiration to ensure all students have the opportunity in engage in, and benefit from, entrepreneurial learning opportunities. This includes supporting and developing entrepreneurship-related societies and organising events workshops and competitions focused on entrepreneurship and employability.

 

Main Responsibilities:

Support the development of the partnership with Strathclyde Inspire, and delivery of the partnership objectives, by working collaboratively with Strathclyde Inspire staff to:

  • Working in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship & Employability Lead, organise Strath Union led events, workshops and competitions focused on entrepreneurship and employability.
  • Provide development, growth, and programming support to entrepreneurship-related societies and student groups.
  • Support existing entrepreneurial learning opportunities including Exploring Entrepreneurship Challenge and other evolving activities.
  • Signpost students with ideas to the Strathclyde Inspire Start-up team for advice and guidance on business start-up.
  • Support Strathclyde Inspire marketing efforts by connecting with the Strath Union Marketing and Communications team to use marketing channels effectively and ensure high awareness of entrepreneurship activity throughout the student body.
  • Develop relevant content for social media channels and webpages including videos and other digital media.
  • The role holder will be part of the Strathclyde Entrepreneurship for All delivery team and will attend relevant meetings as required.

Support:

  • Support the effective operation of Strath Union’s Jobshop, including updating and promoting ‘earn while you learn’ opportunities.
  • Support the work of the Student Engagement team and other colleagues in delivering departmental projects and events.
  • Contribute to annual impact reporting for relevant areas including student entrepreneurship, Strath Union Jobshop, and the partnership with Strathclyde Inspire.

Student Care:

  • Work in effective collaboration with Student Officers and all departments within Strathclyde Students’ Union.
  • Ensure that students’ expectations are exceeded wherever possible.
  • Deal with feedback in a courteous, efficient, and timely manner.

General:

  • Comply with all Strath Union policies, procedures, and governing documents.
  • Always work within Strath Union’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Be responsible for all health and safety requirements related to the role.
  • Undertake any other tasks commensurate with the level of appointment that may from time to time be reasonably requested.
  • The post-holder is expected to portray a positive image of Strath Union, both internally and externally, and to set high standards of personal integrity and professionalism, leading by personal example.
  • The post-holder is expected to undertake such personal and professional development as required to maintain appropriate knowledge and skills to fulfil the requirements of the role. This may include attending events away from the offices of Strath Union and outside Glasgow.
  • Sustainability is a strategic priority for Strath Union and the post-holder will be expected to engage with sustainable workplace practices and relevant training such as carbon literacy.

Key relationships:

Internal: Student Engagement team, Sabbatical Officers, Clubs and Societies Committees and other Strath Union staff.

External: University of Strathclyde including Strathclyde Inspire Team, and Strathclyde Careers Service, entrepreneurial support organisations, NUS, and any other external organisations relevant to the role.

Essential:

  • Ability to educate and empower students about entrepreneurship
  • Able to present information clearly and concisely in writing or verbally

Desirable:

  • Experience of creating and delivering training
  • Relevant knowledge of student unions including student societies
  • Experience of entrepreneurship within an educational setting
  • Ability to work with budgets
  • Ability to create relevant and engaging content for website and social media platforms

All applicants must be in Glasgow and available for training from the 9th September

All applicants must be Strathclyde students for the whole academic year 2024-25
