You will be leading groups of secondary school pupils (ages 14-16) through a series of interactive activities that will allow them to find out more about Higher Education at College and University and improve their ability to study effectively. Full training will be provided, as well as ongoing development whilst in the role to encourage you to continually reflect on and improve your mentoring practice.
Who we are looking for: Enthusiastic, professional and committed candidates who are able to motivate and inspire young people, many of whom have faced educational disadvantage. Current mentors find this experience extremely rewarding, both in terms of personal and professional development and through making a positive impact on the future of young people from across the west of Scotland.
Criteria:
· Dynamic and engaging candidates with a passion for Higher Education.
· Candidates who are friendly and approachable, whilst being able to set and maintain age-appropriate professional boundaries.
· Dedicated candidates who are mature, responsible, and have an aptitude for working with young people from a range of backgrounds.
· Committed team members with strong time management skills.
· Candidates who have a working knowledge of the current Scottish education system.
