The aim of the ResLife Team is to promote a positive student experience within the residences by organising events, offering wellbeing support, and building rapport with students and staff.
Successful candidates will have a genuine interest in creating an engaging and inclusive University Accommodation experience. The right candidate will be able to communicate well with people in order to manage a variety of situations. ResLife Assistants should be role models who are able to project the vision and objectives of the University. They will also have administrative and planning skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Key responsibilities:
Community development — RLAs will create a programme of activities designed to meet the needs of residents. As community developers, RLAs will make every effort to interact with all residents and encourage community involvement.
Wellbeing – RLAs will understand issues that University students living in residence may face and provide support and guidance to help students to be able to cope with the stresses of daily life.
Resource and education —RLAs will connect residents to other campus opportunities such as Students Union events, sporting and club events. They will also be able to recommend appropriate University support services to students in need.
Policy enforcement/safety — RLAs will have knowledge of the Code of Conduct and terms of the Occupancy Agreement. RLAs will be attentive to resident safety and security.
Emergency response — RLAs will contact the Accommodation/Village Office or Security Services for support when needed.
Administrative tasks — RLAs are required to complete paperwork such as Event Proposals and Evaluation forms, as well as surveys.

You will gain experience and learn useful transferable skills. This is a paid position so you will earn £56 per week which will be paid monthly directly into your bank account.
Educational and/or Professional Qualifications
Enrolled and registered as a full time student at Strathclyde during the academic year, be a resident of Strathclyde Accommodation, have a clear rent account and no outstanding debts to the University.
Essential
Application
Be able to balance work and study and maintain good academic standards during recruitment and the appointment period.
Have no disciplinary record for previous violations of the Code of Conduct or no discipline issues with the University throughout the appointment period.
Experience
Relevant experience in a similar role, such as working in a team or organising events.

Able to problem solve effectively and independently and know when to seek guidance from senior colleagues.
Interview
Able to organise, prioritise and meet deadlines.

Personal Attributes
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to articulate ideas to team members, students and staff. This must include effective communication via social media.
Interest in people and awareness of the wants, needs and rights of others living in shared accommodation within a student community. As well as an awareness of the issues that can arise when living in shared accommodation.
Commitment to promoting the positive aspects of community life in halls and the Campus Village community as a whole.
