Strathclyde Women's Water Polo Team

On Monday 13th November 2023, our Women’s water polo team played an exciting match away at Stirling University. In the four previous games, Strathclyde was merciless with their opponents. A victory with another monster score was not what the team expected this time. The duel between teams who compete for the top of the table was a true nail-biter. Strathclyde recorded a 17-18 victory with nine goals from captain Isla Macdonald.

The Glasgow-based side earned a crucial advantage in the second quarter. At halftime, Strath were losing 5-4 but managed to turn this around to lead 10-13. Stirling didn’t surrender easily however. With one minute remaining in the game, the home team scored the long awaited equalizer; 17-17. But that was not the conclusion. With just fifteen seconds to play, Strath took a time out. A decisive final play resulted in a well deserved winning goal. The six seconds remaining on the clock was not enough time for Stirling to do anything about it.

The next match will be Wednesday 29th of November against GU. Kick off is at 16:45 pm at Strathclyde Sport. Entry is free and spectators are more than welcome. #WeBleedMaroon
