Student radio is back at Strathclyde! The new team behind Fusion are re-launching Strathclyde student radio tomorrow, April 6th. We spoke to Haroon, Society Treasurer, about all things radio, how you can get involved in the society and when you can expect to listen to their first show.

What is the society most excited about being back up and running?

The thing that excites us the most is being able to broadcast student content to the Strathclyde community. We're very happy about the number of new members we're getting involved and the huge variety of shows we're planning—both music and talk radio. We want to create a platform where students with all sorts of interests have something to look forward to.

As we re-launch, we'll be broadcasting sporadically. But we hope to reach a point where we do regular, or even 24/7, broadcasting.

How and when can students expect to listen to Fusion radio?

Fusion Radio starts broadcasting this Wednesday (6th of April) at 4pm. You can listen on our website strathfusion.com. To know when each show is on, check the calendar on our website. We'll also be posting about upcoming shows on social media.

How can Strath students get involved with Fusion?

To get involved, email or message on social media. We keep checking our inboxes often, so you'll get a response quicky.

There are many roles you can take: host a show, appear on one of the other shows, send us your music/podcasts, and even many 'behind the scenes' roles like graphic design or website management.

We're always welcoming new members. And experience is not a requirement to join. We'll teach you how everything works around the studio and support with whatever you may need. And if you're not feeling like joining the team yet, you can still get involved by listening to us on our website. We'll have plenty of interactions/requests over Instagram, game shows, birthday shoutouts, etc. Nobody gets left out!

What advice would you give people who are thinking of setting up a society or restarting a society?

Time management will be the bulk of the work. As students, we tend to become busy at some points during the year. Just plan things well in advance and be mindful of your many responsibilities. The Union will be your best friend through this. In our experience, every person that works here has gone above and beyond to help us with whatever we needed. Don't feel intimidated to reach out, the Union is here to help you!

If you're keen to start a new society or restart a society all you need is a President and Treasurer to submit an affiliation request to the Societies Executive Committee

We’re excited to see student radio back up and running on campus! Be sure to listen to Fusion’s first show back at 4pm April 6th here.
