How is it connected to sustainability?

The fashion industry is the second largest polluter and accounts for 10% of global emissions. This is largely due to the modern perception that clothing can be worn a few times before being thrown away, reflected in the cheap quality of materials used and the several collections dropped by fashion brands each year. In the UK, 300,000 tonnes of clothes are sent to landfill when 95% of these garments could be re-worn or upcycled. It is clear that sustainability in fashion - which materials are used, their lifecycle and reducing consumption overall, is an important topic to focus on.
