How is it connected to sustainability?

In a world where the number of people affected by hunger has risen since 2014, food losses and waste is a significant moral problem. The facts also tell us that roughly a third of all food produced is wasted and that this food accounts for up to 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. If we are to fight against climate change, finding ways to make our food systems sustainable and, therefore, resilient is imperative.

Action is required locally and globally, within households and in the broader food industry. Considering the latest, innovative technologies, working methods and good practices to manage food quality and reduce food loss and waste are vital to affecting substantial change on this issue.
