Established in 1981, Strathclyde University Symphony Orchestra (SUSO) welcomes all players of any ability and we currently also have several members who study at other institutions and former Strathclyders.

We like playing different and varied pieces of music, and we always aim to perform a concert each semester. Currently, we’re practicing for our Spring Concert - along with the Strathclyde University Chorus (SUC) - at the end of March. The concert will be on Friday the 29th of March at the Royal College Assembly Hall, with tickets at £4.

The show, itself, will have performances of music which both societies have been working on throughout the semester, as well as other pieces prepared by individual members. The show really lets us showcase our work that we’ve been working hard on, as well as providing all our members with experience of performing music in front of an audience.

The night will provide great entertainment for everyone who comes to see us, and we really hope that this will encourage even more people to come and play with us in the coming year.

For anyone wanting to develop their musical ability, we really encourage that you sign up for the orchestra. For a £10 annual fee, it includes weekly rehearsals - led by our professional conductor – and expert advice from our sectional tutors, to let everyone develop their playing skills. We provide fantastic playing opportunities for musicians at Strathclyde, with carefully selected music and professional musicians to help us develop musically.

As well as that, we enjoy a range of different socials, including regular pool sessions.
