16 Days of Action 2020

25 November - 10 December

What is 16 Days of Action?

Every year we celebrate the 16 Days of Action and campaign to end violence against women.

This year at Strath Union we’re focussing around the theme of disclosure, and will be campaigning for clear reporting pathways, against non-disclosure agreements, and will be encouraging people to disclose their experiences with gender-based and sexual violence wherever they can.

We’ll be launching a new social channel for students to contribute their own experiences, art and activism - so watch this space for launch!!

Each year we organise a Fight for the Night march to reclaim our streets and demand safety for women & trans and non-binary people on our streets at night. Although we won’t be able to march through the streets of Glasgow this year, the pandemic won’t stop us from organising. We’ll be running Fight for the Night From Home this year on the 10th. We encourage everyone to make and share banners online with the hashtag  and come along to our banner making workshops. On the 10th at 4pm we’ll be lighting up Strathclyde purple to show solidarity with survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and encourage you to do the same.
