  2. Share and stay informed

Keeping yourself informed about trans issues and having conversations with friends, family and your workplace about how and why we need to be trans-inclusive is important. To actively make positive change for trans people we all need to call out and challenge all forms of bigotry wherever and whenever we see it too.

  3. Join a union or party

Whether you are already a member or want to join a trade union or political party collective action is a great way to take action to protect trans rights. You can help amplify the issues the trans community are facing and make more affirming and safe spaces.

These organisation also get involved in lobbying and protesting. These are both very strong tools to make systemic change and contribute to organising for trans rights.

  4. Write to your MP

You can write to them by email or post about your concerns and educate them on the issues impacting trans people. It is best to personalise your email or letter as it may make them more likely to pay attention and understand the real experiences and views of their constituents. Make sure to set out clear actions in your email or letter and ask them to reply with what they have done in repsonse to your email or letter. You can also view their voting record to help you personalise your email or letter.

    Find your MP

Your MP has a duty to respond to you but you may need to send multiple emails or letters before you get a reply. You can find template letters to help with writing your email or letter but make sure to personalise these for the best chance to make your MP pay attention to what you have to say.
