Programme Reps

Each year we train and support almost 700 programme reps.

What are Programme Reps?

Programme Reps gather the views and concerns of other students in their class. They are involved in improving the student learning experience by working with lecturers directly, department staff at Student Staff Liaison Committee meetings (SSLC) and Strath Union. They have the opportunity to make genuine change in the university while developing a strong skillset.

Reps are added to a MyPlace page where they can access training and more information. If you are a current Programme Rep who doesn’t yet have access to this page get in touch with Representation Coordinator, Karolina, using your university email.

How do I contact my rep?

Most students can find the details for their Programme Rep through the StrathReps section of the Strathclyde Mobile App.

If your rep is not displayed in the app contact your department and they will be able to tell you who your rep is.

What are the benefits?

In return for your time and engagement we are making sure to expand the amount of StrathReps benefits. These include:

  • Access to annual conference boosting personal development.
  • Access to personalised training and internal opportunities.
  • Transcribed acknowledgement of logged volunteering hours in role.
  • Transferrable skills increasing employability after graduation.
  • Access to annual STAR awards including StrathRep of the Year category.
  • Access to extra discounts via our loyalty provider BRYKS depending on logged volunteering hours.

On top of all of this you can get the chance to know your class better, understand university systems, develop a wide range of skills and get to make real change for your community.

How do I become a rep?

Programme Rep elections are held in the Strathclyde Mobile App at the beginning of each academic year.

To nominate yourself, follow these 4 steps:

  1. Make sure you are logged in, then click the menu button in the bottom right and search 'StrathReps', then click the result.
  2. Click the Info button to read about being a rep, then once you are ready click the apply button.
  3. Fill out your manifesto on why you would make a good Programme Rep.
  4. When you are ready, submit!

Some departments don’t use the app for nominations. In that case they will carry out elections internally, often by discussing with the class in person. Please check with your departments for the selection process.
