Strathclyde Students' Union

Strathclyde Students' Union logo

Strath Union is an organisation dedicated to supporting students throughout their years at university and beyond.

Welcome Team

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

The Welcome Team is made up of a diverse group of current students from all faculties and years who encourage new and returning students to get involved with Freshers' Week. This amazing Team is responsible for setting up fairs, distributing essential information, offering campus tours and making Strath as welcoming as possible. Volunteers will need to have basic knowledge of the University and be approachable, friendly and enthusiastic.

Welcome Team is back for another year of providing a warm welcome to new students joining us in September 2024.

As a Welcome Team volunteer, you will have the chance to make a real impact on the experience of new students from diverse backgrounds. You will receive training and have the chance to be part of a wonderful team of fellow students, expanding your network and gaining new skills along the way.

In addition to helping students move in, handing out goody bags, answering questions and supporting events, you might be helping us brainstorm ways to engage with new students, setting up and encouraging participation in fairs, leading Union and Campus Tours and above all else just having lots of fun and making new friends.

Your volunteering will be fully flexible to fit around your studies, work and other commitments - you can take part in as many or few volunteering shifts as you are able to! Fresher's week is taking place 13th – 22nd September. We do ask that you make a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week (one event or shift at halls of residence). You will always be volunteering with at least one other person and as always, we provide you with a team uniform (the iconic pink T-shirts)!

All you need to take part is enthusiasm for helping new students. If that's you, register your interest now!
