CoderDojo Mentors

Ongoing

Glasgow Libraries offer a network of free coding clubs where children and young people can learn how to be creative with code, while having fun and making new friends (For ages 7 – 17). Our clubs are part of the CoderDojo network which runs clubs around the world.

Mentoring at CoderDojo is a really exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of digital makers by helping them learn to code in a fun and sociable environment. Dojos are supported by Library staff with Volunteer Mentors providing the technical know-how and skills. Sessions are 1-2 hours, frequency varies from weekly to monthly.

Young coders start off by following simple instructions on how to make games and animations with Scratch, a block-based programming language developed specially for children and beginners.  As they progress they move on to making web pages and programming in Python and other real-world languages.  Help is always on hand from specially trained library staff and volunteer tech mentors. Computer equipment is available at all our library CoderDojos.
