Volunteer Peer Mentor

A Volunteer Peer Mentor plays a vital role in supporting individuals through guidance, encouragement, and shared experiences. This position is designed for those who are passionate about helping others, fostering personal growth, and building a sense of community. Peer mentors act as role models, offering practical advice and emotional support to their mentees.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Guidance and Support:

  • Offer advice, share individual experiences, and help navigate challenges related to personal, academic, or caring role.

Foster a Positive Environment:

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where mentees feel comfortable discussing their concerns and aspirations.

Encourage Personal Development:

  • Motivate mentees to set and achieve goals, develop new skills, and build confidence.

Facilitate Group Activities:

  • Organize and participate in group sessions, workshops, or events that promote learning and community engagement.

Maintain Confidentiality:

  • Respect the privacy of mentees and manage sensitive information with discretion.

Collaborate with Colleagues:

  • Work closely with Family Wellbeing Worker (Inclusion and Development) and other Mentors to ensure the program’s success and address any issues that arise.

Support and supervision details

Volunteers are expected to work under the direction of the Family Wellbeing Worker (Inclusion and Development including regular supervision and performance feedback. As well as training, volunteers will have access to support and advice from the Carers Service team and from the worker supervising.
