Fight for the Night takes place annually, during 16 Days of Action. We march to demand action to make our streets safer and show solidarity to survivors of rape and sexual assault. This year the march will take place on Tuesday 24th November.

We believe that, as women, trans and non-binary people and those presenting as female, we have the right to walk the streets at night without the fear of sexual and gendered violence. We want to protest against the stigma surrounding rape and sexual assault, the victim-blaming that goes alongside this and make our thoughts known on the appalling rape conviction rate in Scotland.

As a volunteer, you will be acting as a steward during the march and supporting events in the run-up to or in the aftermath of the march, such as a banner making session. As a member of the Steward / Safety team you will be greeting people arriving at the gathering point, answering questions about the march and its route, and direct the foot flow. You will also be responsible for spotting health and safety concerns and reporting these to the Lead Organiser. After the march, you will help direct participants back to Strath Union, where there will be teas, coffee, and snacks provided.

You must be available from 4.30pm - 8.30pm on the day of the march. 

There will also be a volunteer briefing prior to the event, the date and time for this is to be confirmed. 

We will be meeting at 4.30pm at Strath Union and taking the subway to Kelvinbridge together. All volunteers’ subway expenses will be reimbursed.
