Welcome Team

This opportunity takes place between 11 Sep 2019 and 20 Sep 2019. Closing date for applications is 04 Sep.

The Welcome Team is made up of a diverse range of current students from all faculties and years who encourage all new and returning students to get involved. This amazing Team is responsible for setting up fairs, distributing essential information, offering campus tours and making the Campus as welcoming as possible. Volunteers will need to have basic knowledge of campus and be approachable, friendly and enthusiastic.

Welcome Team is loads of fun and lifelong friendships are usually formed within group. It’s a chance to meet new people and improve interpersonal skills. You will also gain free entry to certain Fresher’s Week events, free meals on duty and a team social to celebrate all your achievements.

The Team makes an impact on thousands of new students arriving at Strathclyde by helping people make the most of Fresher’s Week, introducing them to the campus and the Union, and making sure new students have help finding their feet at University.

Training available

Training will take place on 11 September. All key information about Fresher’s Week and Union services will be covered to ensure Welcome Teamers are able to deal with student enquiries with confidence. An initial information session will take place on 22 May, where you will learn more about what being part of Welcome Team involves and get the chance to ask questions from previous Welcome Teamers.

Support and supervision details

The Welcome Team will be supported by the Vice President Volunteering & Development and Student Engagement staff, who will be available at all times during volunteering shifts.
