This role is very flexible and is ideal if you don’t always have a lot of regular time to donate. The aim of the role is to assist our fundraising team raise awareness of our services to ensure we are reaching as many people as possible who could benefit from our support.
A cancer diagnosis doesn’t often come on its own. It can bring with it many stresses and complications. We exist to support the wellbeing of anyone affected by cancer, including family and carers. There are many cancer support charities in Scotland offering a variety of support. We want to ensure everyone is aware of our services should they need us and as an awareness raiser you will help spread the word far and wide, helping us to support more people in Scotland.
The role includes a variety of tasks and you can get involved in one of these areas or all of them depending on your preference and availability. Tasks include:
· Speaking on behalf of Cancer Support Scotland to local groups and clubs with the hope they will go on to support us.
· Assisting at information stalls.
· Raising awareness in your local area by distributing posters and leaflets.
· Encouraging organisations and businesses in your local area to support us.

You will receive a full induction to Cancer Support Scotland including a tour of the centre, information about the history of the charity, and a cancer awareness induction. You will also receive any necessary guidelines to assist you in your role.
Support and supervision details
Once you start you will be supported by our Community Fundraiser and Volunteer Coordinator. You will have regular contact with our Community Fundraiser and the opportunity to meet on a one to one basis to discuss your role and if you feel you need any further training.
